Moore(Grimsley) and Polchinski(Ragsdale) finish strong for Army…..

WEST POINT, N.Y. – J.P. Polchinski(3B Ragsdale HS) homered twice to key a 15-run first inning, Cole White became Army’s career home runs leader and Clint Moore(SS Grimsley HS) tied a single game school record with six base hits as Army blasted Sacred Heart 27-12 in its season finale, Tuesday afternoon at Doubleday Field.

The regular season Patriot League champion, Army wasted little time settling matters on Tuesday. Two days after being limited to just two hits in a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Bucknell in the third and deciding game of a Patriot League Tournament seminfinal series, the Black Knights exploded for 15 runs on 15 base hits in the first inning alone against Pioneer pitchers Eric Romanchuk and Corey Corcoran.

Polchinski drilled two-run and three-run home runs to highlight the onslaught as the Black Knights sent 21 batters to plate in the record-setting inning. Moore collected three singles during the frame, while Kevin McKague doubled twice and drove in three runs. Tony Capozzi and Andy Ernesto also ripped two hits apiece in the first as Army established a new school record for most runs in a single inning.

Moore, who raised his seasonal batting average to .350 with his record-tying effort, finished the day 6-for-7 with four runs scored and four runs batted in to lead the Black Knights’ relentless 27-hit attack.
