Page Lacrosse/Daniel Tuttle on the All-Area Team/Expand deeper into Forsyth County…

We need further clarification on the current status of the Page Pirates boys Lacrosse team. Is the team still in the playoff hunt? How did their post-season go? When did it all end, assuming it is over? Hopefully someone with the Page program or one of the Pirates in the know will contact us. Rusty Lee has always been very good about getting us this type of information.

Here’s the current Lacrosse playoff schedule as issued by the NCHSAA and listed on the Page web site:
05/06/08 Tuesday 1st Round Playoffs Kirby Stadium / Page HS 7:00pm
05/09/08 Friday 2nd Round Playoffs Home 7:00pm
05/14/08 Wednesday Semi-Finals Playoffs Home 7:00pm
05/17/08 Saturday Finals / Championship tba

Somebody get us the update on the results from these games by contacting us through the comment box or going to durhamandy@live.com…..

Should we include Daniel Tuttle of Randleman High School on our All-Area baseball team? I received a call this morning and they said that Tuttle(SS/P for the Randleman Tigers) deserves to be on this team even though he showed poor behavior in the Randleman vs. Southeast game this past season. Tuttle is due to attend Clemson on a baseball scholarship and the word is Daniel is still one of the best players in the Triad area and he is as good or better than any of the kids currently on our list of teams and it is a sham that his name has not been listed by any of our readers.

Do we need to expand our list of All-Area players deeper into Forsyth County? Ryan Dull and Roby Swab from East Forsyth have been on several lists but other Forsyth County kids have been left off and from my E-mails that I have been receiving, Forsyth County feels slighted. Some of the readers from over in that area are supposed to be sending me some names and stats and I will have them up here for you to look over later today. WS Carver, Forsyth Country Day, and West Forsyth are some of the schools that have players who feel left out.

We’ll have those numbers for you later this afternoon and again how do you feel about Tuttle on the team? Can you see Daniel Tuttle, Cam Cockman, Justin Venable, Jeff Medley, and Austin Moyer all out there together?

*****Here are the numbers that came my way on the Forsyth County kids that might have been overlooked as the All-Area team came together. Do any of these kids make your cut list? Here are those numbers that came in at our E-mail address.*****

Chris Munnelly-Forsyth Country Day:.548avg., 26 runs scored, 26RBI’s, 15 steals…..
Andy Howland-WS Carver:.500avg…..
Roby Swab-East Forsyth-.500avg…..
Garrison Lassiter-West Forsyth:.491avg., 26 runs scored…..
Sam Rodgman-Mount Tabor:15HR’s…..

  1. I don’t think there is any doubt in anyone’s mind that Daniel Tuttle is not a great player with lots of potential. His size and althletic ability is not in question. However………..I have a hard time rewarding anyone with a bad attitude. I left him off my list for that reason. I wasn’t sure what all-area meant. Maybe next time we need some lines drawn as to what “area” means. o

  2. I have no idea how far out the ‘area’ should be. What schools do the News and Record include in their All Area Team? Maybe we should have an “All Guilford team”, an “All Forsyth Team”, an “All Randolph County team”.

Just curious though…if those who are e-mailing you feel left out, is there a reason they can’t leave a post and contribute to the list? If they feel a player should be included, I would love to read about them. There is no way that any of us can see every player play enough games to know about everyones abilities, so I always welcome objective comments about players.

Because the # of teams that I could see play multiple times were limited in the regular season, I had to base some of my choices on what I had seen in the summer, fall and regular season as well as what I read in the newspaper and heard from others whose baseball opinions I respect.

All readers should feel welcome to add their opinions and if they don’t, then they shouldn’t complain about who is or isn’t on the list.

  3. We need to have an All-Guilford team to get our local guys the recognition they deserve and we need to have an All-Area team that would include players from the five County area of:
    Guilford
    Forsyth
    Randolph
    Rockingham
    and Alamance….

These are the areas that the local schools tend to face most often.

Who are the top 9 players out there no matter what position?????

    Lassiter
    Dull
    Ridge
    Cockman
    McCraw
    M. Dimock
    Kornblum
    Nettesheim
    Swim
    Crawford?????????This is tough……….

  4. We may have to make the All-Area team a Sweet Sixteen group. We have to find a place on this team for at least one Ragsdale player, and down to one name, it would be Nick McBride…..

Can anyone come up with the “perfect game team” of a nine-man All-Area team?????

  5. Andy………there is no way Kornblum or McCraw are one of the top 9 players. To me they are strictly good at one thing. Pitching…..But with the guidelines you laid out above it does make it easier to come up with a team.

  6. McBride is a great talent for Ragsdale and his upside his huge but the heart and soul of that Ragsdale team is Ben Fultz. Great hitter, great second baseman, incredible speed on the basepaths – goes all out every single play. If only one Tiger makes the team he gets my vote.

  7. Part of my selection process is based upon what I have been seeing tossed around here on the web site. Kornblum and McCraw have been getting quite a few mentions and the jury is still out, is it McCraw or Paulino? Ben Fultz, I have heard nothing but good things about him so our topic continues to create debate.

Who can come up with the Mighty Nine for our All-Guilford and All-Area teams?????

  8. Speaking about Ragsdale, was Nate Cash(catcher) the kid that was kicked off the team during the playoffs by Coach Donnie Maness?

  9. Page men’s lacrosse team ran into a hot Apex High School team on Wednesday and was defeated by the score of 9 to 3. It would have been a more interesting game to watch if Page had been at full strength. Injuries to 4 starters going into the game made this match up even tougher for Page. To win a state championship you have to be lucky, talented and stay healthy throughout the playoff run. Our men’s lacrosse team represented themselves and Page honorability with their talent and effort. Coach Evan Smith (Page’s first and only men’s lacrosse coach) has built the Page men’s lacrosse team for the long haul so that success builds upon success. With hard work in the offseason Page should have a similar lacrosse playoff run season next year.

  10. Andy, remember your getting bombarded with opinions from coaches at Grimsley and assistant coaches from Grimsley. There have been very few stats mentioned on the message boards from anyone. I don’t think you can make an accurate decision just on what one source says or fans say without seeing first hand the documented stats from other area teams… and to say this is an accurate all-area team based on a few opinions..is inaccurate…want to get the real all area team?..get a coaches poll from all the high schools mentioned in the area…then you will have something.

  11. Andy, read Coaches DreamTonyDweeb novel on other all area team site. He’s talking to God now about who should be on the all area team. lol

  12. Nobody was kicked off the team at Ragsdale that I know of. Nate Cash played third base in the playoff game loss at Glenn and was the DH in the playoff win over Anson.

  13. The word is N. Cash was re-instated for the playoffs by Coach Donnie Maness. Cash missed games in the Conference tournament for his outburst against the coach.
