High Point Wesleyan in state finals…..

High Point Wesleyan defeated Charlotte Country Day 7-3 on Friday to reach tonight’s finals of the NC Independent High Schools AAA baseball tournament. The HPW Trojans were led by a kid that just moved up to the varsity level from JV’s and the new kid hit two home runs for coach Scott Davis’s Wesleyan team. Coach Davis is an N.C. State grad and a former player for Wolfpack back in the late 80’s/ early 90’s.

High Point Wesleyan will take on the winner of this afternoon’s Forsyth Country Day vs. Charlotte Christian game that was rained out on Friday and then the best-of-three championship round will start tonight at 6pm. Michael Dimock threw a couple of late innings on Friday for HPW and he still has 8 innings left that he can toss this weekend. The state independent schools tournament committee limits pitchers to 10 innings of action during the three day tournament.

There will be two games tonight and game three if necessary will played on Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
