Win Streak Snapped
Hoppers Fall in Opener of Eight-Game Road Trip

Greensboro, N.C. –Saturday’s 3-1 loss against Delmarva was Greensboro’s first road loss since May 3 and just the sixth time this season the Hoppers have dropped a game away from NewBridge Bank Park; the loss also snapped a five-game win streak for manager Edwin Rodriguez’s ballclub.

Starter Brett Durand turned in a quality, but after six innings, in which he surrendered three runs, he handed Greensboro’s three-run deficit over to the bullpen.

The Hoppers’ lone run came on just four hits and was scored by Hunter Mense on a seventh inning wild pitch.

Right-handed reliever Eric Busurto made his Grasshoppers debut in the seventh innings and threw two innings of no-hit baseball in finishing the Hoppers loss.

Greensboro returns to action Sunday for double-header against Delmarva beginning at 12:05 p.m. The double-header includes Greensboro’s originally scheduled contest against the Shorebirds and their postponed game from Friday; both matches are scheduled for seven innings. ears.
