Proehlific Power at China Grove…

The Proehlific Power had their first game of the season last night at South Rowan High School in China Grove, just outside of Landis and just beyond Salisbury off of Highway 85 South. This was not only their first game of the year, it was their first game ever as a team. Several of the boys had played together on the local high school teams but this is the maiden voyage for this new Palomino/Showcase squad.

The Power went up early and starting pitcher Esterlin Paulino left the game after 2 innings with the score tied at 1-1. The Proehlific Power went on to use five pitchers on the night with Zach Kornblum, Timmy Dezearns, Logan Self and Jacob Cadle joining Paulino in the box score for the Power pitching staff.

The Power ended up losing the game 12-5 and the line score read for the South Rowan Legion team:12 runs on 11 hits and three errors and for the Proehlific Power:5 runs on 10 hits and four errors. The five-man Power pitching staff struck out 18 SRL batters but the Power pitchers walked 10 of the opposing hitters.

Nick Jones, the Power DH, was tough at the plate with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored and he was on base at least three times and Alex Swim had a nice stroke at the plate to help lead the Power offense. Jones has been slightly injured and the Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists have told him take it easy for a few days but he was doing anything but that at the plate. Jones should be back out in the field after a few more days of rest.

The South Rowan Legion team improved to (3-1) with the win and Power fall to (0-1) with the loss. CJ Neal gets the win for SRL and Zach Kornblum takes the loss for the Proehlific Power. The SRL web site had their team record listed at (3-0) before last night’s contest but they said they split a doubleheader with the Randolph County(Asheboro) Legion squad.

The Proehlific Power team will take on the Burlington Legion team tonight at the Graham Middle School, game time set for 7pm. You can catch the game on AM950 or at wpetam950.com on the internet.

  1. I thought this Proehlific team was the who’s who of all teams…..10 walks..what?, and 5 pitchers…5 pitchers????? getting beat 12 to 5..that’s a beating , and four errors. They will play a lot tougher teams than this. Good Luck Johnny you’ll need it…

  2. I do not think this Proehlific team will ever reach its full potential until you bring Coach Ash in to coach them, he can get more out his players than any coach in Guilford County.

  3. That’s a hoot! Coach Al coaching a team from Proehlific would be like Scott Bankhead coaching a team sponsored by the Greensboro Batting Center. LOL, that’s funny!

  4. Glad to see Proehlific Power beat Burlington Legion last night. Home runs by Lyle Donaldson, Alex Swim and Aron Jones powered Proehlific to a 16-10 victory. Nick Jones kept up his hitting, pounding out his third double in 2 games. Michael Wall, Zach Howard and J.B. Brewer will add to the team when they report. These three guys are still involved with their college team. PP will travel to Hickory Saturday and Sunday for doubleheaders each day in a showcase tournament with teams from the southesat United States. By the way, the winning pitcher last night was Jacob Cadle, (Westchester Academy). The 6’5 230 pound lefthander fanned 3 in his 2 and 1/3 innings pitched. PP pitchers have fanned 29 batters in 2 games. The downside is that PP has committed 9 errors in 2 games.

  5. Andy,
Thanks for broadcasting the Proehlific games. It’s nice to tune in if I can’t make it to the ballpark in person.

    Justin,
It’s great to see that the rising high school seniors are making contributions early on. Best of luck throughout the season!
