Former Gator Curry named Head Coach in MoTown

According to the Associated Press, former Greensboro City Gator Michael Curry will be the next coach of the Detroit Pistons.

Joe Dumars told The Associated Press that Curry will be introduced at a news conference on Tuesday.

Curry played for the Greensboro team that competed in the Global Basketball Association in 1991-92. The team folded after one season and the entire league ceased operations the following year. Curry went on to played eleven seasons (1993–1994;1995–2005) in the NBA as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Washington Bullets, the Detroit Pistons, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers.

  1. Here is an interesting fact about Curry – he served as president of the NBA Players Association from 2000-2004.

  2. This will be an interesting move for the Pistons. I didnt think that Flip Saunders did a bad job. The Pistons are getting older and their window to win another World Championship is probably closing fast. Curry will get a chance because of his relationship with Joe D. but if things go south, the heat will be turned up on Curry and Dumars.

  4. What ever happened to Daniels? He made the NBA for a while, I think with the Spurs.
