Greensboro College’s David Sutton was picked to the men’s at large academic national first team teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Sutton, who graduated last month, was picked as an alternate to the NCAA Division III Individual Championships. He compiled a 17-4 record for The Pride this year. Last year he was the USA South men’s tennis player of the year, the first male tennis player from GC to earn the honor.
A native of Greensboro, N.C., Sutton carried a 4.0 grad point average before graduating with a major in exercise sports science (pre-med) and a minor in mathematics. Sutton earned the Fred Joseph Award, the highest athletic honor at Greensboro College, last year and is the career leader in singles for single season (1.000 in ’07) and career winning percentage (29-4, .878). He was selected to the CoSIDA national at large third team in 2007.
