David Moore looking forward to Guilford and Keenan Allen won’t be returning to Grimsley…..

I ran into David Moore today, the former runningback/linebacker at Grimsley, and he said he is looking forward to attending Guilford College on an academic scholarship in the fall. Guilford is DIII and can’t really offer athletic scholarships but there are other ways to get money.

David was an All-Metro 4-A Conference performer for the Whirlies this past fall at linebacker and he said he will be at runningback for the Guilford College Quakers. Moore said practice starts on August 9.

I asked David how he thought Lay Lay Brown would do for the Grimsley Whirlies this upcoming season at QB and he said Lay Lay should be OK. I also asked David about Keenan Allen, the rising junior RB, and Moore said Allen won’t be coming back to Grimsley, he’s going to another school. I have been hearing talk of this for a while now.

I have also received word that rising sophomore quarterback Maurice Harris will not return to Northeast Guilford and that he is heading to Northern Guilford. Harris started one game(vs. Southern Alamance) for NEG last year as a freshman and played some in other games and he was looked upon as being the most promising QB in Northeast Guilford football history. Harris is now slated to play for coach Johnny Roscoe and the Northern Guilford Nighthawks.

I was told by one source last year that Harris and Allen are cousins. It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds…..

  1. This is big news.

Are there other transfers and are these guys families moving into homes in their new districts?

Does Guilford County have a new super since Grier left?

Who is the County AD here?
