Proehlific Power win four games over the weekend…

The Proehlific Power picked up four wins over the weekend and the closed out the run with a 12-5 victory over the TC Spirits on Sunday evening at Northern Guilford. The win over the Spirits helped send the Power to (14-5) on the season and the Sunday win went to Donald Howerton while the Spirits’ Nick Musgrave absorbed the loss.

Friday night the Power topped the Caldwell County Post 29 squad 10-0, then Saturday the PP earned a 7-5 win over the Martinsville Braves. Sunday afternoon the Power stopped the Charlotte Hurricanes 9-2 and then the Sunday night game ended up with the Power in front 12-5.

Donald Howerton did a fine job on the mound for the PP and the lefty out of McMichael HS and N.C. A&T should keep on getting better as the season rolls on. Howerton gave up five runs on six hits and he struck out six TC Spirits batters. Big JB Brewer came on to close out the six and seventh innings.

Offensively the Power put up four runs in the first, four more in the second, then three in the 4th, and one in the sixth. Leadoff-man Mike Wall walked four times, singled and scored twice. Nick Jones had another double for the Power and scored two times. Travis Woolen had two hits and scored two runs, while Alex Swim had a double and a single, Aaron Jones had a two-run double, as did Logan Self, and Robbie McIntosh had two hits including another PP double and a run scored.

Robbie McIntosh had a super day defensively at shortstop and he continues to be one of the top prospects on the team. Speaking of the team, they leave town on Tuesday for Omaha, Nebraska where they will be playing in a tournament that is going on during the College Baseball World Series.

For the TC Spirits Trevor Leonard was their leading hitter on Sunday going 3-4 with two singles and a double and he scored two of the team’s five runs. Bryan Connolly the son of FOX 8’s Kevin Connolly came on late for the Spirits as a pinch hitter.
