State Games at the Greensboro Coliseum along with 102 SUPER JAM…..

The North Carolina State Games are still going on in Greensboro and the basketball games with teams from all over the state are happening this weekend at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.

Northern Guilford played this morning at 8am and Dudley will be in action at 2pm this afternoon. I spoke with coach David Price and he told me that Dudley is getting stronger with the addition of Reggie Dillard from Allen Middle School. Dillard had talked about going to Ragsdale but he is headed to Dudley along with another freshman, Big Mike Coger’s younger brother who is already as heavy as Mike was and this kid is still growing. The Coger kid is probably 6’4 and moving on up.

Page, Ragsdale, Smith, Southwest Guilford, Trinity, Glenn, and Grimsley are also in the tournament and I saw Coach Darren Corbett from the Whirlies. The word is that at least one Southwest Guilford player has been contacted by the Veritas Sports Academy and that he might be going over there to play for Coach Keith Gatlin.

I saw teams from Concord, Northern Nash, Whiteville, and many other cities and counties from across the state. The action continues through Sunday at the Coliseum Special Events Center. Tonight the Coliseum will be hosting the 102 JAMZ SUPER JAM and they were preparing the Coliseum for the event this morning. Former GREENSBOROSports.com writer James(JAMZE) Lyles said he would be there for the activities and would file a report(hopefully not a Police Report) sometime next week.

In girls basketball news, Eastern Guilford beat Page and Southeast Guilford in the young ladies’ Summer League this week and barely lost to Northwest Guilford, 40-31. Eastern has been flying under the radar for a few years, but now it looks like the EG Wildcats are among the top teams in the state. Next week(Tuesday night) EG will play Reidsville and Dudley at Dudley.

*****We will have some pictures from the State Games coming your way later on during the weekend.*****
