Petersen’s 18th Not Enough to Get Greensboro Past Rome…

Greensboro Drops Fourth Straight

ROME, Ga. – Stuart Alexander left after five innings with the game knotted at three, but reliever Matt Mallory gave up two late runs as the Rome Braves handed Greensboro a 5-3 loss.

All but one Hopper collected a hit in the contest and Bryan Petersen hit his 18th home run of the season to put Greensboro up 3-2 in the top of the fifth before Rome evened the score in the home-half of the frame.

Petersen’s home run is his sixth in his last eight games and his fifth of the month; a July total that leads the South Atlantic League. He also added his 10th stolen base of the year after one of his two walks in the contest.

The loss extends the hard times Greensboro has stumbled upon. The Hoppers have now lost four straight and 12 of their last 13.
