Power report and Colt All-Star Rosters..

I made the trip out to Northern Guilford last night as the Proehlific Power took on Fuquay-Varina in a wooden bat contest that got under way about thirty minutes late because the umpires were running behind. This seems to be an on going trend this summer with the same thing happening at the Colt Tournament back on July 4 when the umpires were an hour late that day for a 12 noon start.

Like we said last night’s game was set for 7 but it got rolling just after 7:30 and that left me with about an hour of viewing time. I had planned to sneak out at around 8:00 to go catch the MLB All-Star game but I stayed on the scene until just after 8:30. The way the All-Star game was moving, in retrospect, I could have stayed at Northern watching the Proehlific Power until 11pm.

The way things ended up when I pulled out the Power was on top 4-1 over Fuquay-Varina with Esterlin Paulino on the mound for the PP. Paulino looked strong and the Power has had several long layoffs lately with all the rain that has been moving through the area. Lyle Donaldson made a very nice defensive move on a foul ball, short pop-up behind the plate; Logan Self had a smooth defensive stop at third base; while Michael Wall, Matt Nettesheim, Aaron Jones, Nick Jones, Robbie McIntosh, Travis Woolen, and Alex Swim all hit the ball hard for the Power.

Again when I pulled out the Power was up 4-1 over Fuquay-Varina. I saw a lot of the local Power followers at the game including Ricky Proehl, David and Debbie Nettesheim, Robbie Jones, Jason Smith, Betty Smith, Tucker Durham Smith, Hayden, The Dimocks, and coaches Justin Smith, Johnny Smith, and Bob Sublett. I also saw and spoke to some other fans, and I don’t know their names, but it was good to see you.

Larry Farrer will be sending us the Colt All-Star rosters and we should have those up here on the site for you on Thursday. A note from Larry yesterday:

We are going to scrimmage each other tomorrow(Wednesday) at 6:30pm at Grimsley. We should know after tomorrow(Wednesday) who will be on which team. I will keep you informed.

  1. The Power ended up losing last nights contest 8-5. Estarlin Paulino pitched 6 strong inning, giving up only 1 run. Zach Kornblum threw 3 good innings striking out 5. Robbie McIntosh finished the game but defensive miscues and mental mistakes cost the Power in the 11th inning. These collegiate teams gives the Power stiff competition and will only make them better. The Power take on the Kernersville Bulldogs tonite in another wood bat game at Glenn High School. Wake Forest signee Michael Dimock is scheduled to start for the Power. Their final regular season game is tomorrow night at home against Caldwell County’s collegiatte team. The Power leave Monday from Proehlific Park at 1:00

  3. Just a note to say that the umpires were not late for the Power’s game at Northern Guilford HS last night. The Fuqay Varina team did not show up until 6:50 which was 10 minutes before scheduled 7:00 start. The FV coach asked that the game start time be delayed until 7:30 pm. It would be a wise choice to know what you are talking about before putting words into print.

  4. Let’s say the game started late and the Umpires were no where in sight at 7pm.

When I arrived at Northern just before 7 both teams were sitting in their respective dugouts doing nothing.

  5. Let me say that the umpires were standing on the field at 6:30 and the Power was the only team at the ballpark. They arrived by van at 6:50 and coach Smith asked the FV coach how much time he needed to be ready. He replied with we’ll be ready at 7:30. The umpires were sitting in the parking lot waiting for both teams to take infield and were on the field at the time given them by coach Smith. If you arrived just before 7 and they were doing nothing it was because FV just got off the van.

  6. That info is correct. The FV team was late arriving and the Powers coach gave the start time to the umpires to be 7:30. They were standing on the field at 6:30 with only one team.

  7. I was listening and there was talk among the crowd that the umpires were running late and maybe they did’t know how to get to Northern Guilford. There was talk that maybe the umpires the umpires got lost. Sounds like the Fuquay-Varina team is at fault and that maybe they got lost.

It was just another day/evening/night at the ballpark and things like this can transpire when there is no public address system and no announcements are being made.

It was a good night for baseball.

  8. Sounds like if you were serious about printing a story with correct information, the best idea would have been to ask the home coach what the situation was instead of automatically putting blame on the umpires. Not very reputable writing, in my opinion. Kind of a credibility check, don’t you think?

  9. Let me guess. No report on tonights game at Glenn. I guess the ride to Kernersville would interfere with your watching something on TV just as the All Star game was more important last night. Just for your information, the umpires were on time and the final score after 9 innings of play was K’ville Bulldogs 7 Proehlific Park Power 4. This you can print without having any doubt of whether the info is true or not. A bit different than the info printed about last nights game. People should enjoy the fact that every now and then a story is submitted on this site that is actually valid. LMAO at that happening very much.

  10. I was listening and there was talk of a writer who shows up to a game listens to the crowd, and then leaves 30 minutes later to go home and watch TV. He writes articles that make no damn sense. I sure hope he doesnt get paid to do so. If he is a real reporter, the woods are full of them. Sounds like a chronic bs er to me! I will try and take in a local sporting event this week for 30 minutes, make up a lie and then say that I heard it from the crowd. That should bring people to my web site. What a true idiot.

  11. Andy, I thought I would add my voice here because it’s only you, me and one other person with multiple personalities 🙂

  12. I was at the game for over an hour and when I left the team was still leading 4-1.

Maybe I am some kind of Good Luck Charm.

It is good to know I still have a ton of loyal fans out there and who else has been out there this season covering the games besides GREENSBOROSports.com? Who else had the standings and the results….

If we quit coming there will be no coverage.

  13. The Power played well led early and lost a lead late. Dimock was pretty good but Kville has a good solid team. It is good for teh Power to play to make them better
