1976 GGO Champion meets 2007 Wyndam Champion electronically!

Three weeks from today the first round of The Wyndham Championship will start at Sedgefield Country Club.

To get all of us golf fans and media types wound up, Wyndham Media Day was held today at The Sedgefield Inn. The guest of honor was 27 year old, defending champion, Brandt Snedeker. What a nice, congenial, soft spoken young man he is! I might add, that he is a huge fan of the new-old venue-Sedgefield. He thinks, according to his buds on tour, the event will be a TOP 10 event in the near future. The attraction of playing an old style, Donald Ross designed course that is part of the PGA Tour are the draws for the tour players. I remember when tournament director MarK Brazil said that the big decider on where and when these guys play is decided by the course-well, apparently, we have the course.

1976 GGO Champion, Al Geiberger, phoned in on a confernce call, reminiscing about his victory in 1976 over a name we all know, Lee Trevino. Al recalled how almost the entire gallery was pulling for Lee. Oh, I remeber it well-as well as you can 32 years later.

Let me tell you about The Sweet Spot-no, not that one-the seating around holes 15, 16 and 17. According to Mark Brazil, it will be one of the best situations on tour for golf shot viewing-corporate tents, as well as general admission ticket holders are invited to hit The Sweet Spot!

Another reminder-The Wyndham starts Thursday August 14th, ending Sunday August 17th. Now, if we could only have weather like we have today in mid-August-maybe we’ll get lucky-either way we will be there, for all of the eagles, birdies and pars-no bogeys allowed!

Pictures to follow tomorrow.
