The local Greensboro-based Proehlific Power Palomino baseball team won their round-two tournament game today at Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The PP earned a 3-1 decision over the team from Lynnhaven, Virginia. This puts the Power in the championship round that begins on Saturday morning at 10am. Whomever the Power plays on Saturday must beat PP twice to keep the Power from going on to Pittsburgh next week for the East Zone tournament with the winner at Pittsburgh moving on to California the following week for the Palomino World Series.

Today’s win was huge for the Proehlific Power as they trailed Lynnhaven 1-0, going to the top of the sixth inning. The Power scored one run in the top of number six as Travis Woolen got a hit, Michael Wall moved him to second on a bunt and then Alex Swim connected with an RBI single to drive in Wall from second to tie the score at 1-1.

In the top of the eighth inning the Power came on again as Woolen lead off with a single, then he was forced out at second as Wall went to first base. Aaron Jones walked to move Wall to second and then Swim came through in the clutch again with another RBI single to bring in Wall with what would prove to be the game-winning run on the game-winning RBI. Lyle Donaldson help provide the Power with an insurance run as he singled to bring A. Jones in to score from second.

The Power led 3-1 as Lynnhaven came to the plate in the bottom of the eighth and Michael Dimock got LH 1-2-3, three up-three down to end the game and in the end, it gave the hard-earned victory to the Proehlific Power.

Esterlin Paulino went 7 innings for the Power on the mound and he allowed one run on 2 hits, gave up one walk, and struck out 6 Lynnhaven batters. Paulino got the win and Dimock the save as again, Dimock took out LH with two fly outs and a strikeout in the bottom of the eighth.

At the plate Nick Jones, Travis Woolen, Alex Swim. and Logan Self had two hits each and Swim drove in two runs while Lyle Donaldson brought home the other.

The Proehlific Power wins 3-1 on Friday and they will play again in the championship round on Saturday morning at 10am with opponent TBD. Good job by the Power today and Good Luck on Saturday…..
