Proehlific Power win Palomino tournament, will move on to Pittsburgh…

The Proehlific Power won the Palomino qualifier for the East Zone tournament by defeating Western Branch, Virginia this morning 2-1.

The Power got on the scoreboard first, in the bottom of the third inning, when Robbie McIntosh reached on a double and then Nick Jones brought him in with an RBI single. Nick Jones later ran the score to the 2-1 final with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. It was a big day for Nick Jones, he was the only Power player with two hits.

Joe Wagstaff was on the hill today for the PP and Wagstaff went 7 innings and only allowed the one run on four hits and he struck out four Western Branch batters, while walking two.

The Proehlific Power will return to Greensboro later today, and they plan on playing the Kernersville Bulldogs next Tuesday and Wednesday with wooden bat action, in prepartion for their trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania coming up next weekend.

The Power will arrive in Pittsburgh on Saturday and play their first game in the Palomino East Zone Tournament on Sunday as they battle for the right to return to California for the Palomino World Series.

  2. You are exactly right. All those games playing the collegiate teams paid off in preparing the Power for Palomino tournament play. Once you get this far you have to be good and also lucky. You have to give Justin Smith a lot of credit for this team. He worked hard putting together this group of guys and getting them to beleive and play together as a team. Even if this team doesn’t advance to the World Series, they have had a successful year, playing a 50 game schedule. The support this team has had from it’s fans, parents , coaches and players has been great. Keep up the good work.
