*****We received this very important news from Tony earlier this afternoon about the details involving the Greensboro Green team in the East Zone Colt Tournament:

Greensboro plays at 8 pm(on Wednesday) vs Hamilton, NY, if they win, they play Chesterfield Baseball Club out of Virginia at 6:00 pm on Thursday, if they win that the winner of Butler Township, Ohio and Rockingham County await in the winners bracket final at 3:00 pm on Friday. 1. Colt Zone tournament being played at War Memorial not Stoner White. 2. Good call Tony. Looking back they played the tournament at War Memorial Stadium last year and the year before that….

Two years ago I ran into Alan Craven’s grandfather at the Summit Shopping Center and he steered me to the tournament which Greensboro Green won and then moved on to Lafayette, Indiana where they finished #2 in the nation.

    Thanks again for the update.

  3. I was very disappointed with quality of baseball. Are the better local players involved with other programs?

  4. The Greensboro Green team is looking pretty good, but there are players who have chosen to go ahead and start football, others who are with travel teams, and still others who decided they just needed a break from baseball and chose to take some time off.

With all that said, from what I have seen, this Greensboro Green team is very good. On the mound Steven Mekita and Brock Hudgens have been tough and George Carter or Corey McKinney can step up next. Tivon Clark has really caught my eye and C Sawyer Highfill has worked extremely well with the different pitchers.

Cal Sutphin has come through with key hits and this Greensboro Green team has looked good as they prepare for Friday’s game.
