Greensboro Green continues to go for the Gold, game two winners over Chesterfield County Virginia…..

The Greensboro Green team has done it again, winning 6-1 this afternoon over the Chesterfield Ball Club from Chesterfield County Virginia.

The line score went 6 runs on nine hits with one error and seven men left on base for Greensboro Green and it was 1 run on two hits with two errors and four men left for CBC. That’s from the scoreboard on the runs, hits, and errors and the scorebook for the men left on base.

The winning pitcher Brock Hudgens(SWG) went the distance for Greensboro Green and Hudgens followed up last night’s web gem catch in right field with solid work on the mound through seven innings this afternoon. Hudgens worked through a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 7th after a ball got through in centerfield for three bases and later a CBC batter got hit by a pitch and all three runners who reached were potential unearned runs with Hudgens getting all three CBC outs in the 7th with the batters one-hopping ground balls back to the pitcher.

At the plate there was plenty of Greensboro to go around with George Carter(Grimsley) connecting on a two-run homer to deep right field in the top of the 7th to put the game away at 6-1. Tivon Clark(SEG) scored the first two runs for Greensboro Green and Cal Sutphin(Grimsley) drove in Clark with an RBI single for the second Greensboro run to push GBG up early 2-1. A suicide squeeze later by Hudgens scored Sutphin and GBG never was really threatened after that.

Here’s the overall on the game scoring from today’s contest;
No score GBG and CBC after two quick innings, 1-0 GBG after three, 1-1 GBG and CBC after four complete, two big GBG runs in the fifth made it 3-1 GBG and then another in the sixth had the board reading 4-1 GBG and then Carter’s home run put the game away came in the top of the 7th for the 6-1 final.

Another big win for Greensboro Green and they now will face Butler Township out of Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon at 3pm in the winner’s bracket as Greensboro Green continues to go for the Gold.

The Colt baseball East Zone tournament continues on Friday at War Memorial Stadium.
