Stanton Breaks Up No-Hitter with 27th Home Run…

Greensboro Strikes Out 14 Times in 6-1 Loss to Lake County

Eastlake, Ohio – Greensboro didn’t have an answer for Lake County’s Ryan Morris Wednesday night.

The southpaw fanned eight Hoppers in six hitless inning of work for the Captain before Mike Stanton broke up Lake County’s no-hit bid with his league-leading 27th home run of the season in the seventh inning; Lake County still escaped nearly unscathed with the 6-1 win.

Stanton’s solo home run was all the offense the Hoppers could find as Greensboro finished the contest with just two hits; Brian Schultz also collected a hit in the seventh frame against reliever Garrison Campfield.

The Captains were in charge the entire night as Lake County tagged starter Kyle Kaminska with four runs, all earned, in just 3 1/3 innings of work. Kaminska struck out four batters but three of the seven hit he allowed were home runs.

Stanton was the lone Hopper not to strike out against a Lake County pitching contingent that posted 14 K’s on the night.
