Results from the World Series down in Columbia, SC…

We heard today from Coach Derrick Johnson and the report was good for the Triad All-Stars at the Black Baseball World Series down in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Triad All-Stars, made up of players from Smith, Dudley, High Point Andrews, and several area colleges, were winners over the top seed in their bracket, the Miami Grays.

The final for the All-Stars in the big win over the top-seeded team from Miami, was 12-0, in five innings. Donald Robertson got the win for the Triad team going the distance while throwing a one-hitter with 7 big strikeouts. JJ Alston had two hits, Frankie Johnson also had two hits and he drove in two runs while Rueben Torrellas picked up a couple of hits and had some key RBI’s.

The Triad All-Stars were winners in their game at 11am this morning(Friday) and now they move on to play Detroit, Michigan tonight at 8:30. Rico Cooper will be on the hill for the Triad All-Stars in game two tonight.

The Greensboro Bison, our local 15 and under team, coached by JB Baynes, split their games today losing game one 7-5, and then bouncing back to win game two, 10-8.
