Update on Black World Series in Columbia, S.C…….

I was on the phone with Coach Derrick Johnson last night getting the update on the Black Baseball World Series from down in Columbia, South Carolina.

Coach Johnson said our local team the Triad All-Stars lost to Detroit on Friday, 8-7, and then fell again on Saturday 8-7 to Richmond, Virginia to finish (2-2) in the Series. The All-Stars finished third in their bracket.

The local 15 and Under team(The Greensboro Bison) coached by JB Baynes won on Saturday and they are in the Final Four. The same can be said for Reggie Tatum’s 12 and Under team(The Carolina BigCats), they also made it to the Final Four.

Coach Derrick Johnson has a bid in and hopes by working with Ken Free(a former Greensboro resident and one-time commissoner of the MEAC), to bring the Black Baseball World Series to Greensboro in 2009.

Coach Johnson will be working hard to bring the World Series to Greensboro.
