Proehlific Power one win away from Palomino World Series

The Proehlific Power Palomino baseball team is just one win away from returning to the World Series out in California later this week.

The Power picked up two wins on Sunday at the East Zone tournament in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and if they win at 3pm today, then they will have punched their ticket for a return trip to California for the Palomino World Series.

The PP topped Youngstown, Ohio in game one on Sunday, 9-8 in nine innings. Esterlin Paulino was the winning pitcher for the Power going five innings, while allowing one run on three hits, and he struck out four and walked only two Youngstown batters.

Nick Jones was among the leading Power hitters going 3-5 with a double and a single and 2RBI’s. Aaron Jones hit the ball hard as he went 3-4 with 4RBI’s and that includes a solo HR in the top of the ninth inning that proved to be the game winning run in the 9-8 victory. Travis Woolen was 2-3 and Logan Self went 2-4 as the Power wrapped up the win in their first game of the tournament.

Iin game two on Sunday for the Power, they defeated North Alleghany 11-4 with Mike Dimock picking up the win. Dimock went four innings to earn the “W” allowing two runs on couple of hits, with 4K’s and no walks.

At the plate for the Power in game two, Robbie McIntosh was 3-3 with two triples and a sigle and two RBI’s. Alex Swim went 2-4 with a triple and 3RBI’s. Logan Self was 2-3 with two doubles and 2 RBI’s and Aaron Jones went 2-4 with a double, a triple, and 2RBI’s.

The Proehlific Power will play again today at 3pm versus either Pine Richland or North Alleghany for the right to advance to the Palomino World Series. The Power are 2-0 in the tournament and they would have to lose twice today to be eliminated.
