The Triad Power 12u is competing in the 2008 WFC World Series in Myrtle Beach, SC. Monday was opening ceremonies, each team and player was introduced while being paraded in to the softball complex. The players traded team pins which gave them an opportunity to meet the players from other teams. Samantha Stilling and Haleigh Epperson competed in the base running contest and finished second and third respectively. Brianna Webb and Bergan Goddard were in the homerun derby. Brianna took first place with a monster hit that hit the two hundred foot fence.

We started pool play on Tuesday against the SC Travelers and lost 5-3. We came back on Wednesday and beat the SC Crushers 13-1. We then finished pool play by taking the Carolina Riptide 10-0. Our 2-1 record earned us a fourth seed in bracket play on Thursday. We were paired against the thirteenth seed Rally Katz. We just finished our first bracket game and won 7-6 in the last inning. Down by one in the last inning our first batter Morgan Coleman rips a single into left center. Our lead off Sam Stilling gets a swinging bunt and beats it out. Kara Shutt lays down a bunt and everyone is safe. No outs bases loaded and our next batter strikes out. One out bases loaded and Brianna Webb at the plate. Bri rips the ball up the middle and we score two to get the win. Bergan Goddard and Cayla Cecil pitched a great game.

We now play the SC Travelers at 3:30 pm. We hope to revenge our loss from the first time we played them. We will have to play well to pull it off. The players are having a great time and it has been a good tournament. There are a lot of good teams here. As you probably know it is “HOT” and so are the Power.
*****Triad Power coaches are Danny Shutt head coach, and Todd Webb assistant coach*****
