The Greensboro Green Colt All-Stars dropped their game this aftenoon to Covina, California in the Colt World Series in Lafayette, Indiana.

Greensboro fell 7-4 as Covina had a big bottom of the sixth inning, including a big home run by Richie Pedroza to push them ahead 6-4. Lefty George Carter took the loss for Greensboro as he went 5 and a third innings and he struck out 7 and gave up three hits. Steven Mekita came on in relief to close out the game.

In the top of the 7th Greensboro Green went three-up, three-down, Corey McKinney grounded out to second, Cal Sutphin grounded out to the shortstop and then Steven Mekita was gone on a called strike three.

I listened to the game on HoosierAuthority.com and that’s how I was able to grab some of our stats. At the plate today for Greensboro Tivon Clark was 2-3 with a triple and an RBI, Mike Whited was 1-2 with a double, John Bethea went 1-3 with a double and and RBI, Cal Sutphin was 1-3 with an RBI and Corey Mckinney went 1-3 and he had an RBI.

Costly infield errors ,base running errors, the 3 run homerun in the 5th by Covina, excellent pitching by Convina and we didn’t hit the ball when we needed to. Numerous strikeouts by our players didn’t help. That pretty well sums it up. Just the opposite of what we did in the first game. We will come back, and I hope we got the mistakes out of our system. Good luck to our guys.

The comment sounds like the story behind every bsaeball game ever played. With the greatest coach in the history of Guilford County, they should be able to overcome a few errors and a 3-run homer! Good luck to GSO Green!

Ash did not get them fired up @ all. They were flat as pancakes! You have to be able to bounce back after a loss, and you have to beat inferior teams.
