Former NEG pitcher Mitch Atkins goes to (6-0) for Iowa Cubs

The “Amazing Mitch”, Mitch Atkins out of Northeast Guilford High School, continues to pitch and now he’s hitting too for the Iowa Cubs. Here’s what happend for Mitch and the Cubs this past Saturday night August 9:

Micah Hoffpauir launched four home runs in consecutive at-bats as the Iowa Cubs defeated the Round Rock Express 15-3 Saturday night at the Dell Diamond. Hoffpauir tied a Pacific Coast League record, becoming just the third player in league history to record a home run in four consecutive at-bats.

Felix Pie, Jason Dubois, starting pitcher Mitch Atkins and pinch hitter Matt Craig also added to the home run parade Saturday night.

Iowa’s Mitch Atkins (6-0) earned the win and holds a perfect record at Iowa. He has won his last 11 games, going back to his time in double-A.
