Triad Power 12U Softball finishes 3rd at WFC World Series

The Triad Power 12u team took home the third place trophy at the 2008 WFC World Series. The Power faced the number two seed Hurricanes (Wayne County) on Saturday to battle for a spot in the championship. The Hurricanes took an early 2-0 lead and held it for four innings. The Power came back and tied it in the fifth. The Hurricanes had last bat in the sixth and scored one to win 3-2.

The loss now paired the Power with the Carolina Comets. The Comets had fought their way back through the losers bracket and defeated some very good teams. This game was a nail bitter to the very end. The Comets scored a run in fourth when their number four batter hit a triple with no outs. The Power had one last chance in the bottom of the seventh but could not get a run and lost 1-0.

The Power represented the Greensboro area very well and exceeded all expectations. They left Myrtle Beach with their heads held high and the joy of accomplishment in their heart. This World Series experience will be one that these players, coaches, parents and fans will never forget.

Thank you Triad Power 12u for wonderful 2008 Spring season. It has been a pleasure to be your coach.
