Wyndham Weekend Sells Out

WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL ROUND SELLS OUT;

Raleigh Resident Carl Pettersson Wins Sedgefield Country Club Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – – The Wyndham Championship final round was a complete sell out, it was announced today. With yesterday’s sold-out third round, the tournament enjoyed a sellout weekend for the first time since at least 1950.

During the 1950 tournament, then called the Greater Greensboro Open, tournament organizers ran out of tickets but printed more at Cone Mills. While the event may have been a sellout without additional tickets, it was not because more were printed.

Tournament organizers had a total of 25,000 tickets available per day; that number included all hospitality passes, weekly badges and general-admission tickets.

“This weekend was truly outstanding for the Wyndham Championship,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “We are extremely excited about our champion, Carl Pettersson, but we are just as excited about our weekend being a full sellout. Now we have a new goal to sell out all four rounds next year. We appreciate the tremendous support from the entire Piedmont Triad.”

Carl Pettersson, a Raleigh, N.C. resident who spent part of his childhood in Greensboro, collected a two-stroke victory over Scott McCarron and moved from 58th to 13th in the FedExCup point standings heading into the playoffs, which begin next week.

The Wyndham Championship thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide and Premier Partners, AIG, BB&T Cadillac, Harris Teeter, and VF Corporation for their continued support. 1. What a great tournament!!!! I hope the momentum continues. The PGA might try to find ways to toughen the golf course. The scores were very low.
