Our look at the Mid-Piedmont 3-A Football Conference

We talked in detail last week about Ragsdale and Southeast Guilford from this conference and we concluded that the keys to both teams as always will be the quarterbacks. Tim Romer at Ragsdale will get the call for the Tigers and Terrance Tops at Southeast is set to be the man for the Falcons.

What Romer and Topps can do will go a long way in determining how far SEG and Ragsdale go this season. Both have looked exceptionally strong in pre-season scrimmages. Ragsdale has the Charles Thomason kid at RB who returned to Jamestown from High Point Central and he will be a big plus for the Tigers. DeSean Anderson backup QB,WR/DB/Punter may be the best Athlete in the Mid-Piedmont 3-A Conference.

Zebulon Milliner was tabbed as the NC Preps News Pre-Season Player-of-the-Year in the Mid-Piedmont Conference but he transferred to the new Providence Grove school in Randolph County to play for coach Todd Shuping.

Here’s how the Mid-Piedmont Conference is set to shape up for 2008:
#1) Ragsdale
#2) Southeast Guilford
#3) Eastern Randolph
#4) Asheboro
#5) Trinity
#6) Randleman
#7) Southwestern Randolph
*****Pre-Season All-State from the NC Preps News:Offensive Tackle 6’5/305 Phillip Cheek-Asheboro and the Asheboro Blue Comets have a new coach in Dee Bulla who is from Randolph County, played college ball at Guilford College and coached previously at Randleman for several years.*****

  1. Ive heard, and also saw in the News and Record today, that DeSean Anderson backup QB, WR/DB/Punter.. suffered a severe concussion and will be out for most of the season.

    How will this effect Ragsdale?
