The young man we profiled here last year at GREENSBOROSports.com, Garrison Lassiter, has signed with the NY Yankees after considering enrolling at the Univeristy of North Carolina. He received a $650,000 signing bonus and he will also receive $80,000 toward his college education after his playing days with the Yankees are over.
Lassiter will report to Staten Island, N.Y. for this year and he will hope to move up to the Yankees Class A team in the South Atlantic League, the Charleston, S.C. Riverdogs in 2009. The young shortstop from West Forsyth High School is on his way.
