Guilford College Women’s Soccer Final – #14 Emory 4, Guilford 0

Emory, Ga. (8-29-08) – Lauren Smith scored a goal and an assist and Talia Dweck contributed two assists to lead nationally ranked Emory University to a 4-0 home win over Guilford College Friday night. The Eagles are ranked 14th in the preseason NSCAA Division III Poll.

Smith started the scoring in the 18th minute, denting the twine off an assist from Olivia Lezanski. Dweck set up her first goal of the night when she fed All-American Grace Lam in the 27th minute, which gave Emory a 2-0 lead it carried into halftime. Smith fed Meghan McMahon early in the second half, which opened a 3-0 Eagles’ edge.

Emory outshot Guilford, 24-1. Quakers’ netminder Amber Stapler made eight saves in goal.

Guilford plays Spelman Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Atlanta.
