Guilford College Update – 09/07/08

Guilford’s football team beat Greensboro College Saturday night, 22-12, to retain the Gate City Soup Bowl trophy. Guilford game MVP Danny Langston had six tackles, four pass breakups and two fourth-quarter interceptions that led a strong defensive effort. Josh Vogelbach’s 340 passing yards and two touchdowns highlighted the offense. Chad Kastor added 11 catches, including a touchdown. Guilford’s women’s cross country team placed seventh among 10 teams at the Generals Invitational Saturday. Grace Normann led Guilford with a time of 27:56 over six kilometers. The Quakers’ volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday at the Greensboro College Invitational. Piedmont won the day’s first match, 3-1. Courtney Kozar had seven kills and six digs for the Quakers. Taylor Phillips had 20 assists. In the day’s second match, Oglethorpe scored a 3-0 victory. Guilford’s Anna Miller earned all-tournament honors.
