Guilford College Women’s Soccer Final – Sewanee 2, Guilford 0

Lynchburg, Va. (9/7) – Audrey Jernigan’s two second-half goals gave the University of the South a 2-0 soccer win over Guilford College Sunday morning the Shellenberger Classic at Lynchburg College. The Tigers (2-1) outshot Guilford, 23-7, in the win.

Guilford goalie Amber Stapler made three of her 11 saves in the first half, which preserved a scoreless draw. Jenny Robb made both of her saves in the opening period.

Sewanee turned up the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Quakers by a 15-3 margin. Jernigan broke the scoreless deadlock in the 68th minute off an assist from Virginia Zakas. Jernigan added an insurance tally with 65 seconds left in regulation off an Allison Davis feed.

The Quakers (1-3) open their home schedule Wednesday afternoon versus Methodist University at 4:00 p.m.
