How many wins for the Carolina Panthers this season?

After the thrilling win at San Diego against a very sound Chargers team on Sunday, do you think the Panthers are ready for a break-out season?

Are we talking 8,9,10,11 WINS, or is that too much talk and not enough real hard facts this early in the season?

Let’s say 10 wins if Jake Delhomme stays healthy and if Steve Smith minds his P’s and Q’s. Jake has already achieved legendary status in this state. Frank Reich, Steve Beuerlein, Kerry Collins; nobody is going to remember those former Panther quarterbacks, but Jake will be remembered by all.

And with that in mind, who was the Panthers’ Player-of-the-Game on Sunday? Was it Jake, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Dante Rosario, Chris Gamble, Chris Harris, or someone else? Jake made the pass, Rosario caught the pass, Harris stripped the ball and Gamble ran it for the TD……

How many wins for the Carolina Panthers this season and who was the MVP from Sunday’s win over the San Diego Chargers?

Here’s a line or two from the Panthers’ home page on Sunday’s Game:
Quarterback Jake Delhomme threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dante Rosario in the back of the end zone on the final play of the game to give the Panthers a dramatic 26-24 win over the Chargers in the regular-season opener at Qualcomm Stadium. San Diego had rallied from a 19-10 fourth-quarter deficit with two touchdowns in a 4:18 span to take a 24-19 lead with 2:27 remaining.

  1. After what I saw on Sunday, I feel real good about this team.

The Panthers will win 12 games and Jake was the MVP in the win over SD.

  2. I say 12 wins may be too many. I will take 9 and I agree with Jake D as the Panthers top player in the Chargers game.

  3. I think we need to see some consistancy from Jake before making any big predictions. Maybe his new arm will break him out of the rut he’s been having these past couple of years…..

  4. I for one see the glass as half full and the MVP is Coach John Fox for sticking to his guns and forcing Steve Smith to sit out two games. That disciplinary move has helped this team more than people realize.

I go with the 12 win theory.

  5. The Panthers will win the NFC South and as far as a total number of wins they will have 11 wins and go on the second round of the playoffs.

The MVP this year and every year based on consistancy is John Kasey the kicker. He is the best Panther player in team history. He is a good person too and that should count for something.

  6. I am not totally sold that the Panthers are going to have a huge season. Sunday was a great start though. I think Carolina will win between 8 and 10 games. To answer the questioned that was posed, I will split the difference and say 9 wins for the Cats in ’08.

  7. All you people have done is jinx the Panthers. Now they will go 4-12 and the trainer will be the MVP.
