UFC’s Evan Tanner found Dead at 37:He called it back on August 16

In tragic news today, former UFC Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner was found dead in the mountain area of Palo Verde, California. The cause of death is not known at this time, but he had been missing since earlier last week, when friends lost contact with him.

A campsite was found with his motorcycle, and mmajunkie.com reports that a sheriff’s deputy found the body while searching the Clapp Springs area in the mountain.

Evan had been blogging about his life for spike.com, and in a haunting entry from August 16th, he forewarned his demise in the desert. As he stated in the blog, “I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment, could cost me my life.”

This is a truly tragic loss of a man who had gotten his life back on track after years of struggle. He will be missed, and we here at MMATorch.com extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Evan Tanner.

  1. A truly sad day in the MMA world. Tanner was a scrappy fighter, an overachiever who always gave 100% in the cage. His perseverance and tenacity will be sorely missed in the UFC. May he rest in peace.
