College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 4, Randolph-Macon 0

Ashland, Va. (9-13-08) – Sophomore forward Jackie D’Orsaneo (Bowie, Md./Bowie (Anne Arundel C.C.) scored a goal and two assists to lead visiting Guilford College past Randolph-Macon College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Quakers improve to 2-3 with the win, 1-0 in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets fall to 4-1, 0-1 in the ODAC.

D’Orsaneo opened the scoring in the first half by converting a cross from sophomore midfielder Ellie Taylor (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman (Goucher)). Senior midfielder Erin Baker (Millersville, Md./Old Mill (Anne Arundel C.C.)) scored off a scramble after a Quakers’ corner kick for a 2-0 Guilford lead at halftime.

D’Orsaneo set up junior forward Jada Daniel (Charlotte, N.C./Riverdale Baptist (Md.)) for the Quakers’ third goal and also assisted on Amanda Sperr’s (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) that ended the scoring.

Senior goalie Amber Stapler (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel C.C.) played 70 minutes and rookie Kat Adams (Oak Island, N.C./South Brunswick) the remaining 20 minutes in the Quakers’ first shutout of the season.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday (9/17) versus visiting Methodist University at 4:00 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Sept. 10, but postponed due to heavy rain.
