  1. Several of these players have already committed to WF. Jackson, Rucker,, Tate, Barnes and maybe others. Parker Thomas has committed to unc for baseball. Logan Thomas is a top priority.

  2. Anybody know where Matt Millisor might be heading?????

I heard that N.C. State is a possibility and that Wofford and Campbell might be factors….

I wish Elon or Appalachian would go after one of our local kickers; Millisor, Gann, Redfern, Topps, etc.

The Bob Hicks kid(K) at Northern Guilford might be a kid to watch.

  3. Wake is looking for a punter 1st who also kicks. Their 1st choice is in Ala. Matt is however high on their list. Most likely Wake will not offer a kicker until late. I’m pretty sure Matt has worked out for them. I know of some other schools interested but I got it 2nd hand so I will not repeat. I can tell you Wake knows who he is. Nice young man.

As to Redfern, I shouldn’t comment since he goes to Ragsdale but I would be very surprised if he did not get some nice opportunities.

  4. Will Newnam will not get an offer from Wake. They already have a commitment, for one, and 2 he is not an ACC qb. Good, but not at that level

  5. It’s interesting to read some of the numbers on some of these kids. Some are extremely exxaggerated. My son camped with sveral of these kids and out-ran them yet they post times 2-3/10ths faster than they ran. Some have their height dimensions off by 3 inches. Don’t they think the coach is eventually going to see that they are 5’11” instead of 6’2″?

  6. Matt Millisor and Will Gann were both at the Wake camp with a dozen other punters. Matt is a great kicker and will play at the Div I level if he desires.

Competition for a football scholarship is very tough. By my estimate over 350 kids attended the Wake camp on June 8 (at $50 each). The kids got a tour, lunch, a tee shirt and were evaluated in the 40 yard dash, shuttle run, broad jump and got their measurements taken (height and weight). Wake also did some basic football drills by position. Keep in mind Wake held two try out camps.

Eastern Guilford’s coach (Scott Loosemore) deserves tremendous credit in supporting the college recruiting efforts for EGHS. Coach Loosemore sets up visits and responds to numerous requests for game film for multiple seniors at EGHS. My son Will Gann was invited to over 30 different camps with invitations from Wake and Georgia Tech from the ACC. Coach Loosemore was the key figure in Will visiting James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA. Will has verbally committed to attend JMU.

Other notes: N.C. State made a verbal offer to Chris Ward of Fayetteville, Georgia. Elon and Wofford are still looking at several of the local kickers.

  7. I was very impressed when I heard Will Gann got that offer from JMU.

I was equally impressed to hear Coach Loosemore talking about Will’s kick coverage in the Western Guilford game. I heard he covered a kick, made the hit, and may have recovered the fumble too.

Great job all the way around and we do have some excellent kickers here in Guilford County and they deserve all the attention that they are receiving.

  8. Don’t disagree with you Clyde. I’ve watched Matt kick many times. I was at all 3 of the Wake camps; both 1 day camps and the 4 day camps. 350 is very accurate for the attendance and a little lower for the 1st one. However of the 350 kids there half are either young or not D1 or D2 material. I have no idea where Matt might go other than the interest Wake has. I’ve only met him a few times. I’m sure he will go to a D1 school if he so chooses. Really nice young man.

  9. Lee you are dead on. summer camps are nothing more than money in a college’s pocket. They know who they are targeting/recruiting well in advance of these camps, but will not hesitate to herd in an extra 300 kids that are willing to cough up some money in the process. summer camps are the money makers for major D1 programs such as wake
