College Cross Country Results – Guilford Men and Women Place Seventh At Maroon Invitational

Salem, Va. (9/20/2008) – Guilford College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams both placed seventh at the Maroon Invitational hosted by Roanoke College Saturday.

Grace Normann led Guilford’s women and placed 16th in the field with a team-best 22:46 over the five-kilometer course. Jenn Abelin ran a 23:29 and Linnea Saby completed the course in 25:22. Other Guilford times include Carolina Gadsby (26:31), Ariel Lang (27:00) and Dana Small (27:58).

On the men’s side, freshman Palmer Hicks, running in just his second eight-kilometer event, clocked a team- and personal-best 29:36. Senior captain Chris Walker turned in a 30:25 and freshman Bobby Benjamin ran a 30:51 in his first eight-kilometer event. Tyler Brown completed the course in 31:40 and Leon Odell ran 32:11.

The Quakers are back in action Sept. 27 at the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro.

  1. i hope you guys plan on being at the Greensboro Cross COuntry Invitational next weekend at Hagan Stone Park, it is the 25th anniversary for this great event in the triad.
