Guilford College Men’s Soccer Final – Randolph 2, Guilford 1 (ot)

Lynchburg, Va. (9/20/08) – Eddy Ratianarivo scored an unassisted goal 7:49 into overtime to lift host Randolph College to a 2-1 men’s soccer win over Guilford College Saturday in both teams’ Old Dominion Athletic Conference season opener. The victory marked the first league in the second-year Wildcats’ (4-4, 1-0 ODAC) history.

Guilford’s Hunter Wilson scored in the match’s second minute, ending a Quakers’ (0-6, 0-1 ODAC) that stretched to the season opener. Randolph tied the game in the 49th minute on a Nick Hudson goal.

The hosts enjoyed a 15-7 edge in shots. Guilford goalie Peter Truitt made a career-high 10 saves in goal. Aaron Humphreys had four stops for the Wildcats.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday (9/24) against visiting Virginia Wesleyan College at 4:00 p.m. The Wildcats play at Eastern Mennonite University next Saturday at 1:00 in a home league match.
