Comments from East Carolina coach Skip Holtz after Saturday’s loss to N.C. State

On decision to go for touchdown in the fourth quarter:
“The decision to go for the touchdown there was all mine. We had a missed assignment and one of their (NC State) guys got in the backfield. Give NC State a lot of credit. They had to make some big plays to stop us and they did. NC State is a good football team and (Russell) Wilson was very impressive today.”

On fumble by Patrick Pinkney in OT:
“I kept saying it was a quick game. You just don’t have time to run around and hold the ball. On that play, Patrick was running out and they (NC State) had a guy coming from his blind side. Unfortunately, he was able to hit Patrick and poke the ball out.”

On what he said to the team:
“Just like I tell them after a win, they have 24 hours to enjoy it and then they have to move on. It hurts, but I told them they have 24 hours to get the hurt and pain out. We’ll move forward and watch the film, and we’ll learn a lot from this game and a lot about us. We lost to a good football team…an ACC team. We’ll move on and get ready for Houston.”
