College Volleyball Final – Guilford 3, Eastern Mennonite 2

Harrisonburg, Va. (9/27/08) – Guilford College rallied for a 3-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win at Eastern Mennonite University Saturday. The Quakers (4-13, 2-3 ODAC) erased a 2-1 deficit and staved off three match points in the fifth set to split the season series with the Royals (4-11, 0-5 ODAC). Scores of the match were 25-15, 9-25, 23-25, 25-23, 19-17.

Anna Miller’s match-high 15 kills led Guilford’s offense. She had four kills in the fifth set, including one at 17-17 that gave Guilford the lead for good. Teammate Courtney Kozar added 14 putaways and 12 digs. Setter Taylor Phillips notched her first career double-double with 38 assists and 11 digs.

Monika Burkholder led the Royals with 14 kills.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday at league-rival Sweet Briar College at 6:30 p.m.
