College Basketball News – Guilford’s Kimbrough to Play with Washington Generals

Greensboro, N.C. — Former Guilford College basketball standout Caleb Kimbrough ’08 has signed a one-year guaranteed contract with Red Klotz Sports Enterprise to play with the Washington Generals, best known as the foil to the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters. He will travel to Long Island, N.Y. Oct. 3 for a week-long training session, then will depart for Tel Aviv, Israel, where the Generals and Globetrotters will begin a Mediterranean tour later in the month. The teams return to the states Dec. 26 in Green Bay, Wis.

Kimbrough concluded his four-year Guilford career last spring with his first postseason recognition as an honorable mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) pick. Starting all but four of 112 career contests, the 5-9, 170-pound guard averaged 6.8 ppg. and 1.9 rpg. With 358 career assists, Kimbrough ranks fourth among the school’s career leaders and also has 130 steals, placing him third all-time at Guilford. In his final two years, he helped the Quakers to a 48-10 record, the 2008 ODAC title and two NCAA playoff appearances. He won Guilford’s 2006-07 Quaker Club Ideal Student-Athlete Award and the 2007 Richard Joyce Sportsmanship Award. Kimbrough also received the 2008 Nereus C. English ’26 Athletic Leadership Award for outstanding athletic ability and leadership.

    Couple of years ago, former Wake player Antwon Scott played for the Globetrotters. He got a couple of his high school buddies (Kinston??) on the Generals. They told me they loved it, and were having a ball.
