Greensboro, N.C. — Guilford College’s men’s golf team moved up one place in the second Division III Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll of the fall season. Two-time defending NCAA Champion St. John’s (Minn.) University retained sole possession of first place after receiving 11-of-18 first-place votes. Methodist University remained in second place with five first-place votes, six points behind St. John’s. The University of Redlands maintained position three for the second consecutive poll, with Oglethorpe University and Huntingdon College rounding out the top five.

Guilford finished second at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate Sept. 19-21 as the lone Division III team in the field, defeating a number of Division I programs. Junior Brian Creghan (Radnor, Pa./Conestoga) paced the Quakers with a three-day 216, which shared sixth place among 96 individuals. Teammate Dusty Roberts (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County) finished with a 54-hole 217 thanks to two rounds of 69. Peter Latimer (Markinch Fife, England/Madras) finished with a 221.

Guilford returns to action Monday as it travels to the Bryan Park Golf Club and Conference Center for the Greensboro College Invitational.
