College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 4, Hollins 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. (10-8-08) – Sophomore Ellie Taylor (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman (Goucher)) scored two goals and an assist to lead host Guilford College to a 4-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer match over Hollins University Wednesday afternoon on rainy Haworth Field. Junior Jada Daniel (Charlotte, N.C./Riverdale Baptist (Md.)) added a goal and two assists for the Quakers (5-7, 3-2 ODAC), who won their third straight match.

Sophomore Jackie D’Orsaneo (Bowie, Md./Bowie (Anne Arundel C.C.)) converted a Daniel feed less than five minute into the match for a quick 1-0 Guilford lead. Taylor doubled the margin in the 25th minute with an unassisted tally.

The Quakers took a 2-0 lead into halftime and increased the lead to 3-0 on a Daniel goal off a Taylor assist early in the second half. Taylor’s second goal of the match and her team-leading fourth of the season ended Guilford’s scoring with just under 15 minutes to play.

Colleen Thamm scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute to account for Hollins (1-8, 0-6 ODAC) scoring.

Elizabeth Bills (High Point, N.C.) made 17 saves in goal playing before her hometown crowd. Senior Amber Stapler (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel)) both Guilford two saves before giving way to rookie Kat Adams.

The Quakers host Meredith College Friday (10/10) in a nonconference match.
