Alexander, a 5-10, 145-pound forward, received the honor after helping Guilford to a 1-1 week. He scored two goals on the week, both in the first eight minutes of the Quakers’ 5-0 victory over visiting Averett University Oct. 7. His two tallies marked a career high and his first multiple-goal match as a collegian. Alexander leads Guilford with 11 points on a club-best five goals and one assist. He ranks 10th among Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) goals per game leaders.

Coach Jeff Bateson’s Quakers (3-8-1, 2-3-1 ODAC) have won three of their last five matches. The win over Averett extended their unbeaten streak to four, but it ended with a 3-0 home loss to Washington and Lee University Oct. 11. Guilford plays at North Carolina Wesleyan College Tuesday (10/14) in nonconference action.

The Student-Athlete of the Week Award is presented by Guilford’s SAAC, which is comprised of representatives from each of the school’s 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among the school’s student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a breast cancer awareness promotion, canned-food drives, volunteer assistance with the North Carolina Special Olympics and tutoring at New Garden Friends School.
