College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 5, Sweet Briar 0

SWEET BRIAR, Va. (10-17-08) – Jackie D’Orsaneo scored two goals and an assist to lead visiting Guilford College past Sweet Briar College Friday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer match.

D’Orsaneo, a sophomore forward, recorded her second straight multi-goal match to lead Quakers (7-8, 5-2 ODAC) to their fifth win in eight meetings. She scored twice in the last 12 minutes of the first half to give the guests a 2-0 halftime lead.

D’Orsaneo set up Amanda Sperr’s second-half scored that gave Guilford a 3-0 edge. Claire Massagee scored her first college goal and Jada Daniel also tallied to round out the Quakers’ scoring. Ellie Taylor registered a game- and career-high two assists.

Guilford goalies Amber Stapler and Kat Adams both played a half and combined for two saves.

Sweet Briar drops to 2-10 overall (0-7 ODAC).

The Quakers returns to action Sunday against visiting league-rival Virginia Wesleyan College at 1:00 p.m.
