Ray Crawford II Commits to UNCG, so he will be a Spartan in 2010.

Yesterday, Ray Crawford Jr. committed to UNCG for baseball, and he will be playing for the Spartans in 2010. Ray is the starting third baseman for the Dudley Panthers and he is in his junior year at the James B. Dudley High School on Lincoln Street.

Ray Ray as he is known to many, was first team All-Conference in 2008 in the Triad 3-A Conference and he helped lead Dudley back to the state playoffs after a long layoff. Ray was also selected to the News and Record’s All Area team for 2008.

Crawford had a great summer in ’08 and led his R&B Air sponsored Dudley Panthers Colt baseball squad to the tournament finals where they fell to Jamestown in a game that was started on July 5th and then completed on July 6. R&B Air(Dudley) knocked off the #1 seeded Northwest Guilford Vikings in the semifinals on July 4th. Ray Crawford Jr. then led the R&B Air team to Myrtle Beach where they competed in a National tournament losing their first three games before winning four straight to come back and enter the medal rounds.

Ray plays for Larry Farrer head coach and JB Baynes assistant head coach at Dudley HS and has worked for many years with Alan Ashkinazy at the Greensboro Batting Center and with Carmine Pagano at Carolina Acceleration. Ray Crawford Sr. and Tavis Neal were Ray Ray’s coaches on this past summer’s Colt and travel baseball teams.

Coach Mike Gaski is looking forward to having Dudley’s Ray Crawford Jr. join the Spartans at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2010.
