Page shines in dominating fashion over HP Central

To be perfectly honest, I thought that coming into this game, we were going to see a defensive struggle. As I knew that both Page and High Point Central had very good defenses. With Page only putting up 7 the week before and Central only putting up 3 points the week before as well.

Page would elect to receive the ball first and Will Newman busted a long run on the 3rd play from scrimmage for a 25 yard pick up around the left side, which would set up a Newman TD run from 5 yards out. Millisor’s kick is good 7-0.

Central’s QB Adams, would mishandle the ball on there first possession and Page would recover the fumble.

Page would waste no time to put up more points as Newman found a streaking Jeremy Collie down the deep middle of the feild for a 48 yard TD pass and catch. Millisor’s kick is good, 14-0.

The Bison would move the ball closer to the 1st down marker on 3 plays, setting up a 4th and inches. Page would stop the run up the middle, and Central turned the ball over on downs.

On Page’s next possession Newman found Brad Workinger deep down the right side for a 45 yard pitch and catch in the redzone. This play would then set up a Newman run from 15 yards out resulting in a TD. 21-0.

HP Central would move the ball before being stopped again on a 4th and 1, Adams tried a QB sneak.

On the very next play, Newman connected with Workinger for a 30 yard TD strike. 28-0.

Both teams would share 3 and outs on there next possessions. On the Page punt during there possession, Desmeon Kennedy would return the punt for about 35 yards to set up a 5 yard TD pass after 2 pass interference calls in the endzone. 28-7.

Central would try the good ole onside kick on the kickoff and Page sniffs it out and grabs it, to stop the scare. Page would hold the ball on there next possession to try and drain some time off the clock to get it to halftime. Page would punt and HPC had about a minute to try and put the ball in the endzone. A couple of long passes by Adams and the last one was intercepted by Page’s safety Alonzo Campbell as time went out.

The Black Bison would have the ball first in the 2nd half. Page’s Chris Jasperse would sack Adams on 2nd and 5 for a 10 yard loss. Setting up a 3rd and long that HPC couldn’t convert on.

Newman rushed the ball 15 yards for a 1st down on the first play. A couple of plays would bring up 3rd and 10. Newman scrambled when no one was open in the endzone for a 8 yard carry, resulting in a 4th and 2 field goal try at the 12 yard line for 27 yards, and it was good. 31-7.

HP Central would not give up as Adams found Kennedy down the middle for a 35 yard pass. Page would force the Bison to go for it on 4th and 10 on the 30. Adams passes down the middle to Kennedy, as Will Newman almost intercepted the pass. Nice concentration by Kennedy to stay with the ball and make a tough catch. 31-14.

Page would then move the ball down the field setting up another score. Yes, you guess it.. Newman on a keeper for 5 yards. 38-7. On ensuing Central possession Adams would be intercepted again by Campbell. And intercepted again by Deandre Leach on there next try down the field.

The Pirates showed no letting up as Newman found Thuc Phan down the middle for a 30 yard pass. setting up a 18 yard Newman run around the left side and cut back all the way to the right side and get in toward the right side pylon. 45-14.

HPC would have 2 more tries to put up scores, but Page would hold the Black Bison. The first drive was a 4 and out with 4 consecutive pass incompletions. Then, at the end of the game a sack on 4th and 15 would preserve the win.

Page really showed up last night and dominated offensively, defensively, and special teams. The Black Watch defense really did watch Newman score 4 on the ground and 2 in the air.
