Page pulls away in 2nd half for 28-7 win over Central

In a foggy setting perhaps more approriate for a Edgar Allen Poe story Will Newman ran for two scores and connected with Tim Clay for another to pace Page over High Point Central 28-7.

The only score of the first half came midway thru the 2nd period as Newman scampered in on a 31yd run to cap a 6 play 56yd march giving the Pirates a 7-0 halftime edge. Page extended the lead on their first possesion of the 2nd half as Tim Clay ran 39yds on a reverse to make the count 13-0. Late in the period Page put the game away as Newman connected with Clay on a 17yd pass to complete another quick scoing march, Lenny Gordon added the 2pt conversion giving Page a 21-0 lead heading into the final period. Desmeron Kennedy saved a little pride for Central early in the 4th, Newman though added his 2nd TD run of the night for the final tally of the evening. Newman ruushed for 114 yards on 12 carries and added 88yds thru the air to lead the Pirates into the 2nd round of the playoffs.

  1. I was worried when Newman didnt start and the Page O was going nowhere. Glad he finally showed up. He got the speed and he throws some laser passes. D played well.
