What’s going to happen with this HS football weather?/AM950 call

It’s still raining like cats and dogs down here on Phillips Avenue at the McGirt-Horton Library as we file this installment of round one of the High School football playoffs for 2008.

Are they going to play tonight????? One game has already been moved to Saturday with NWG at Richmnod County and our local teams that are scheduled to be playing at home can wait up until 2pm before they make the final decision.

You would think with the heavy rains that they might want to make the move to Saturday night and play for the better gate and since the NCHSAA is going to be getting their cut, you would think they might want to see things delayed for a better day/payday too.

There are plenty of round one games still set for tonight and if we get any more postponements we will get those up on the site for you. We thank John Hughes the AD at NWG for sending his game plan in to us earlier this morning.

We will have the live pre-game aciton for you tonight on AM950 and then we will go into a tape-delay mode of the game with it coming on after the UNC-G/Charlotte basketball game which should end at about 10:15. We will be bringing the action to you from Ragsdale where the Tigers will be hosting the Southeast Guilford Falcons. Catch the pre-game LIVE at 7pm and then the game action at 10:15 on AM950.

We will have LIVE scores throughout the night here at GREENSBOROSports.com. Don Moore will have the scores for you here at the site as we will be updating them throughout the night. Just keep it on GREENSBOROSports.com for the best in LIVE up-to-the-minute game updates and results.

On the games we see Dudley over Winterville South Central(32-0), Page over High Point Central(28-6), Northeast Guilford over Wilson Hunt(20-7), Southern Guilford over North Pitt(13-7), Eastern Guilford over Northwood(14-13), Western Alamance over High Point Andrews(20-14), Richmond County over Northwest Guilford(33-14), Western Guilford over Erwin Triton(23-20), and finally Ragsdale over Southeast Guilford(20-14).

  1. Andy, I called Ragsdale this morning, as it was raining heavily, and their A.D. said the game was ON, unless the field was under water! Well, the way it is raining this afternoon, the field may be UNDERWATER! If the game is called, the decision would not be made until 2 0r 3 o’clock. I just talked to Dudley’s A.D. and he said they were playing for sure, due to the opponent’s distance in traveling-as in already on their way. So stay tuned-when we get it-you guys will get it- one way or another!

  2. I heard it was supposed to be clear and sunny after 12 noon on Saturday.

My guess would be they could play on Saturday night but they will not play on Sunday.

They have only played on Sunday one time in NCHSAA history back when they had just the four divisions and the games were set for one game on Friday and then three on Saturday in Chapel-Hill.

They got the Friday night game in but it was very cold and it snowed late Friday night and into the day on Saturday and the three Saturday games were moved to Sunday…..

High Point Andrews has said they are playing tonight at Simeon Stadium in High Point, no holds barred, the game is on.
