William Graves, now known as Will Graves from Greensboro’s Dudley High School, pumped in eight big points in only seven minutes of playing time to help the North Carolina Tar Heels defeat the Kentucky Wildcats last night in Chapel Hill. Will is such a smooth shooter, that Woody Durham said watching a 6’6 245 pound man knock down those 3-pointers, is like watching someone going bear hunting with a switch. Graves can do so much and he’s so big, but he is still so smooth, on that shot from the corner.

Graves had 8 points and he got to see 7 minutes of action, and he still scored eight against a very well-known Kentucky team. Freshmen Tyler Zeller, Larry Drew II, and Ed Davis all saw at least 20 minutes-plus of action. Zeller has 2 points, Drew II had 3 and Davis hit for 9 points.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) – Deon Thompson scored a career-high 20 points to help top-ranked North Carolina beat Kentucky 77-58 on Tuesday night despite playing yet again without national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough.
Wayne Ellington had 16 points for the Tar Heels (2-0), who led by double figures barely 4 minutes into the game and never looked back in a matchup of the winningest programs in men’s college basketball.
Patrick Patterson had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (0-2), who finished with 28 turnovers in their second straight mistake-prone performance.
The game drew actress and noted Kentucky fan Ashley Judd, who made good on a pledge to attend the game during a campaign stop in Chapel Hill last month to support President-elect Barack Obama. Judd had promised to sit among the light blue-clad students for the game if the state – which hadn’t cast its electoral votes for a Democrat since 1976 – voted for Obama.
