What to look for in late 2008/Early 2009

The year is closing quickly and we are getting ready for a full load of basketball action with the “Basketball Broadcast from Beef O’Brady’s” starting next Wednesday evening at 7pm. The first show will have Kevin McCoy from the Greensboro Sports Council to talk about the upcoming Pizza Hut Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Dick Stewart from UNCG will join us to explain why the Spartans are moving to the Greensboro Coliseum. We will also have coaches and players to talk to and much more from Beef O’ Brady’s in the North Elm Village just down the street from the Pisgah Church Road intersection.

Beef O’Brady’s, for the best basketball in the business and the best sports on TV’s in a family atmosphere at a Sports Restaurant. Great food and drink at Beef O’Brady’s too……

We plan to have more from Bruce Bullington as the new year approaches with his look at the Carolina Hurricanes under coach Paul Maurice and Bruce will also be taking a trip to Baltimore in the Spring for Orioles baseball with Gary Thorne and Buck Martinez so he will have plenty to talk about as 2009 gets set to ring in. Bruce is primed to become our top resource in 2009 if all of his hockey and baseball cards fall into place.

We are also looking for news on Jason Rook, the former Westen Guilford/Appalachian star now playing baseball in the Orioles farm system. George Carter has already linked up with North Carolina for baseball as has Ray Crawford II, headed to UNCG and Tiger Miller and Josh Tobias at Southeast Guilford are looking to get their papers signed as soon as possible. Tobias has UNC and others looking at him and Tiger was down at NC Wesleyan last weekend. DeSean Anderson has his ticket for South Carolina but he still has two more seasons to go at Ragsdale.

In football we are getting profile material on many kids including Eric Davidson, James Scales III and others who are working hard to get the word to many colleges and universities that will listen. The word is Keenan Allen is growing and Clemson has now joined Alabama as the schools that are on the KA Watch List. The watch is on for Lashawn Brown and I’m not sure what the next move will be for Grimsley football now that the post-season has set in. Where will Ricky Lewis Jr. and Will Newman, our two marquee players from the County end up at in 2009?????

People want to know how Northern will stack up with Dudley in basketball and how will Frye and Lawson do against Hairston and Pennix. NG has to get by Oak Hill first….

There is a lot going on and GREENSBOROSports.com will be on it….Check out our new phone number on the home page under Contact Us. The number is (646) 495-9204 Extension 98617…..
